the Herb huntress

Dinner time at our house can be a bit chaotic. Dinner time prep even more so. Mouths and emotions are left hanging open. Especially after day care days when the kids have to transition back to home life whilst hungry. But now that Dunedin has been helping in the gardening process she can identify herbs that we can add to our meals. As she spend dinnerprep time begging to ‘help” and Griffin spends the time hording all of the pots and pans needed for the meal, I have been sending D outside in our little enclosed backyard to get the herbs. She was reluctant but very excited at the prospect of going alone. She explained to me that she needed a ‘hunting outfit’ left for 10 minutes to find it and this is what she came up with. It is summer, mind you.

Chick pea salad pictured is with the 6 chive stems she picked.

In case of a fire

catdoor
I have decided I need to re-frame the way I think of my son. Instead of thinking of him as a child that spends his days plotting ways get out of hands, arms and house reach, I shall now think of him as one who will be able to get himself out in the case of a fire. He has escaped our home (found emergency exits) 2 times now. And I won’t go into the incident that occurred at the coffee shop…
This cat door was installed by our upstairs neighbor in order to keep G in (or out) when they need to leave the door open for their cats. Turns out he just found a better way to get in/out. It also provides him with hours of amusement. (and to be honest, quite a bit for us as well). He figured out the door well before the cats. I am not sure where this puts him on his milestone chart…

Ikea Bookshelf elves

Ikea now supplies little elves to help with assembly. Pay is in cookies. My friend did note that if they are old enough to read the instructions, they are old enough to read up on child labor laws. Will have to look into this.
