Thinking inside the box

A few photos snapped in our urban backyard jungle. Dunedin spent much of the day painting the orange car you see her in and Griffin spent much of the day eating the paint… I might point out that the boxes the books came in ended up being a far greater hit than the books themselves. D’s biggest concern was that there was no spot for G’s car seat in the back (to be the daughter of a pediatrician carries with it many worries). The light in our backyard in the late afternoon is incredible. The sun bounces off the walls of surrounding houses creating this warm soft light that wraps around the kids without any harsh shadows.

Portaits in the park…

Borderland Sate Park has become one of my favorite places to photograph as of recent. Not only does it have some gorgeous gardens but a lake, an old Mansion with lots of stone work, great texture and fantastic doors. But on the day of the Stazinski family’s scheduled session, the sky was leaking on and off. We debated back and forth whether we should postpone, but as there were 5 individual families that were going to take part and needed to coordinate calendars, we decided to give it a shot. The weather gods treated us well and it stopped raining right as I pulled in (the family has pull upstairs, it seems). Here are a few shots from the my day with the very fun family of 15.

The Lovely Frida (and her PR handlers)

Okay, the 5-9month range is a great time to photograph children. Once they are sitting and interacting, but not off and on the prowl. Most of my work is done for me, I just have to find the right light, place child in nice scenery, and poof! Great photos.
I had the pleasure to photograph the incredibly lovely (and talented and smart…) Frida, daughter to my dear friends Carla and Josh. Carla, when she is not changing diapers and, oh yeah, completing her doctorate, writes a truly honest and insightful blog about adjusting to the world of parenting http://adjustmentdisorder.wordpress.com/

Vermont trip

Just a few images from our recent trip to Vermont with 2 of our close couple friends. The tally included 6 adults, 4 children (1 pending), 1 pond, 1 doghouse, 2 neighboring farms, and 3 yummy house-made meals. The kids had such a great time running off into the fields. We had such a great time letting them.

My relationship status with Sleep has just changed from “its complicated” to “engaged”.

I just did the math.  It has been 20 months since I slept more than 4 hours in a row.   The only reason I was able to embark on this highly sophisticated mathematical endeavor is because, well, now  I am sleeping.  And in stretches of 6-7 hours!   Also on my list of things to do (after non-important computations) is finishing some photo editing from a recent family session in Borderland State Park and the six 6 month old portrait of the ever lovely Frida.
